Hike for the Tatas a Breast Cancer Fundraising Organization, began in 2007. Nine women hit the Appalachian Trail to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. They raised over $8500 on the hike, 100% of the proceeds benefitting the Susan G. Komen Foundation's Maryland Affiliate (check out komenmd.org for more info on the charity).

Volunteers are needed as support staff so if you can't commit to a hike you can still contribute and show your support.

In raising money to fight breast cancer, the hikers got much more than they bargained for-communing with nature, spectacular views, exercise and camaraderie,
and a lifetime-friend-
building experience.

"It was one of the best
things I have ever done,"
said Cara Sweigart,
one of the 2007 hikers
.

The 2008 Hike included a strenuous hike in Northern Virginia and yielded over $13,500, for a 2 year total of over $22,000! And a thousand thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, hikers and donors for making the last two years successful!
